Description: Hi all! This is a Huge tooth from a Pterosaur, aka Pterodactyl, aka flying "dinosaur", from the middle Cretaceous of Morocco! Pterosaurs are as infamous as their prehistoric counterpart dinosaurs, and are often confused as being such despite being close relatives and not true dinosaurs. They were the first vertebrates to evolve powered flight, and would also become the largest with some species having wing spans of nearly 40 feet! Although the wing span of most species was less than ten feet. Toothed Pterosaurs were generally smaller than there toothless cousins with wingspans rarely approaching 20 feet. The tooth is a composite, which in this case means that the tip from another tooth was attached to complete it. It measures 1.87 inches (4.75 cm) and comes in a double sided clear display case for easy transport and display!
