See below for details.~~~~~oNE-PIECE (nO SCREWHOLE) STYLE gripsTHIS LISTING IS FOR OUR ONE-PIECE (NO SCREWHOLE) STYLE GRIPS ********ONE-PIECE VS. TWO-PIECE STYLE GRIPS EXPLAINED:Note: One-Piece style grips do not have a visible screw but instead use an internal spacer to mount the grips. Two-Piece style grips incorporate a visible screw, allowing easy and quick removal for cleaning or maintenance of your revolver. We manufacture both types. Both styles of our grips will interchange and work on either style of grip frame, no matter how your revolver is currently set up. Both styles are traditional and historical designs and both were originally used on early Colts, so whichever style you choose is really a matter of personal preference. One-Piece style grips (i.e., grips with no visible screwhole in the grips) incorporate a spacer (included with the grips) which is user mounted to the inside of the grip panels to hold them in place instead of a using a screw. To ensure optimum fit and best performance, the spacer is sent unmounted since all gripframes vary slightly in inside dimensions. Installation is simple and generally takes only a few minutes. Illustrated instructions included with each order. This results in a rock-tight fit, without the need of a screw. One-Piece grips are preferred by many collectors for their clean lines and traditional look, and are seen on many early Colts. Once mounted, they are fully removable by removing the three backstrap screws, and will not alter your revolver in any way. Reinstallation is in reverse order. Alternatively, our Two-Piece style grips (i.e., grips with a visible screw) offer the superior convenience of quick grip removal using only the screw (also included with the grips). Our Two-Piece style grips also include our proprietary Conversion Kit, allowing their use on revolvers that do not have a grip pin in the frame (as is the case with most Italian-made revolvers and others that currently have a one-piece style grip). The Conversion Kit replaces the need for a grip pin and is actually a stronger design, and allows the grips to lock up tight on the frame, allowing no movement. This requires no modification to your revolver. Two-piece grips give you the advantage of easier access to your revolver for cleaning and maintenance, while preserving the integrity of your revolver in original factory condition. Two-Piece style grips were also used on many of the early Colts, and are a traditional and iconic historical design, offering a distinctive look and convenience preferred by many shooters and collectors.Fully illustrated, easy-to-follow mounting instructions are included with every order. Rev 23122871~~~~~WHAT THESE WILL FIT (Please read this through in its entirety): These grips WILL FIT the Colt 1860 Army 2nd Generation revolvers ONLY. The Colt 1860 2nd Generation revolvers were first produced beginning in 1976 and continued until the 2nd Generation series ceased production in 1982. The 1860 model was the first model made of what is now considered the “F” series, or “Black Box” Colts, due to the color and style of the shipping container they were issued in. The cylinders, barrels, and backstraps were cast in Italy by Uberti and shipped to Iver Johnson in the United States, a subcontractor of Colt, who finished these parts to a high level of production and produced the other parts in the U.S. to precise Colt specifications. After finishing and assembly, the revolvers were sent to Colt for color case hardening and bluing. As a historical note, the later 3rd Generation “Signature Series” issued by Colt were entirely produced by Uberti in Italy, including final fit and finishing, albeit to a much higher standard than normal Uberti production. The 3rd Generation revolvers feature the engraved signature of Samuel Colt on the backstrap and can thus be easily distinguished from the 2nd Generation run (which does not have an engraved backstrap). With the exception of the above-mentioned parts sourced abroad, the 2nd Generation Blackpowder series are entirely U.S. made and considered to be authentic Colts, and are widely regarded as some of the finest shooting 1860 revolvers ever made. Although standard production of the 2nd Gen. Blackpowder series ceased in 1982, special and Limited editions continued to be issued from the Colt Custom Shop until the mid 1990s. WILL NOT FIT:Please note that these grips WILL NOT FIT the 1st Generation 1860 Colts (Original 19th Century production), OR the later (20TH Century) 3rd Generation (“Signature Series”) 1860 Army models. If you have one of these models, please contact us for custom fitting options.Additionally, these will NOT fit any revolvers from any other manufacturers, including other (non-Colt) Uberti, Pietta, Armi San Marco production, or any other Italian or non-Italian clones. If you have one of these, please see our store categories for the proper grips, or drop us an email and we will be happy to help. Rev. 01162450 Arizona Custom Grips About Magna-Tusk™ Ivory and Stag Grips: Magna-Tusk™ Ivory and Stag grips, a product of Arizona Custom Grips, are manufactured out of our high-grade, high density ivory material designed from the beginning as a premium, high-strength grip material. Vastly superior to standard bonded ivory or stag found on most factory and other aftermarket grips, Magna-Tusk™ is capable of withstanding the heaviest recoil and impact, and is the toughest alternative grip material available today, while still retaining the pristine look of real ivory or stag. It is rock-solid, stable, and water, chemical, and oil resistant. It is flame and heat resistant, and is entirely void-free, with over 10x the strength, durability, and impact resistance of alternative materials. Unlike with real ivory or stag, there is no routine care and maintenance involved, with no danger of it drying out and cracking if not maintained properly or if left in the heat. It is filled with premium natural compounds to produce outstanding aesthetic properties and mechanical performance. When aged with our natural aging process, it takes on the equivalent of a 100-year-old patina, with subtle grain details which many experts cannot tell apart from the real thing. In addition, the material has a fine grain structure, which holds intricate detail for carvings, artistic relief work, etc., found on many historic grips. 08292000The photo used is a stock photo (a sample pair).
