Description: Blue Thunder competition valve covers, manufactured for the specialty restoration / performance market. These premium cast aluminum valve covers are made in the United States of America 🇺🇸 , made by foundries that support the American economy, and understand how to pour aircraft (A356) aluminum! When you buy these covers, you buy with confidence! These are not made in China, they are not thin or have porosity causing leaks like foreign-made valve covers; the quality you see in the pictures is the quality you will receive! The valve covers have built in oil baffle plates to keep the rockers from throwing oil out of the engine when cap is off, or other accessories such as breather or PCV valve are used. The valve covers have gaskets pre installed with high Performance RTV silicone for our older more experienced customers. They are stainless steel shot peened for a finish that will not rust and wipes clean of oil. The breather locations have been machined in conjunction with the fastening location for proper torque distribution. The emblems have been pressed into the valve covers using the same high performing RTV as the gasket rail to insure your experience represents the quality your accustom to when running a Blue Thunder product. These are the definition of premium in every respect! This is high quality polishable aluminum; so if you choose to polish them years down the road for a diffrent look, you won't be disappointed! If you want different accessories/caps (then the caps we provide with the sale), let us know and we will work the best deal available for you and your application. ——————— IMPORTANT NOTES——————— Unlike the stamped Crome valve covers these will not bend with slight over torquing. However major over torquing can result in cracking the valve cover. Remember that when torquing valve covers, they should be measured in inch pounds, and not foot pounds of torque. Our experience with these valve covers it’s that they seal fine with less than 50 inch pounds of torque. Customers frequently ask if they need to use RTV when installing the valve cover to the cylinder head. Due to the precision design of the valve cover, they should not need RTV when mounting to your cylinder head. If you use RTV on the other side of the gasket it will make removing the valve cover much more difficult if you need to later down the road. Ideally, you should be able to take this valve cover on and off while making minor adjustments to your valve train if needed prior to hitting the road. We, and the manufacturer highly recommend oiling the aluminum caps (the threaded area of the billet caps and o-ring) that come with the valve covers prior to usage to make sure aluminum galling does not take place. Though the manufacturer does offer these caps in different materials, such as magnesium; we find that aluminum is the best material / match for these valve covers (especially the best value). Answer: These are designed to fit on all Ford Y-Block engines especially performance applications!
