Description: Chicago 1977 Mayor Michael Bilandic Campaign Shopping Bag This is a rare campaign plastic shopping bag from the 1977 Democratic Party mayoral primary campaign of Michael Bilandic. Largely forgotten now, Mayor Bilandic was first elected by the City Council when Mayor Richard J. Daley died, and then won a crowded primary in April 1977. He lost to Jane Byrne in 1979, after being blamed for the City's poor response to the famous "Bizzard of '79." Bag measures about 14.5 inches by 16.5 inches. Bag has been folded for many years, so creases and some minor wear are visible.
