Description: These hardcover books are Volumes VII & VIII of CHARACTER SKETCHES OF ROMANCE, FICTION AND THE DRAMA - A Revised American Edition of the Reader's Handbook - by The Rev. E. Cobham Brewer, LL.D. and edited by Marion Harland. These books, Volumes VII & VIII, were published in 1901 & 1902 respectively. PLEASE NOTE that Volume VII shows the book completely separated from the binding. The covers shows general wear and discoloration and bumping to the corners. Some pages show discoloration as well, but the book is completely readable. Volume VIII shows general wear to the covers. The first tissue paper page (protecting a page of art) is ripped and other tissue pages show wrinkling. Both volumes have a slightly musty scent. Each book measures 11 7/8" x 9 3/8". These are the final two volumes in an eight volume set. (Unfortunately, we do not have the other volumes.) Volume VII gives character sketches alphabetically from "SKE. - TRO." and Volume VIII does so for "TRU - ZUL." Each has a number of beautiful illustrations.
