The clip on mechanism is still very tight and has rubber pad inserts for slip prevention and comfort. I have personally had a jeweler modify a few pairs from clip-on into studs- I highly recommend if your ears tend to get sore or you worry they’ll slip off. I believe I paid approx $20 a pair.
