Description: Ceramic Arts Studio (Madison WI 1940-55) is well-known for its beautifully designed & decorated figurines of people & animals. This lady with her hands folded is called "Lillibelle" is one of 3 bells made by CAS in 1947. She is about 6-1/2 inches tall with the bottom of her skirt about 3-1/2 inches in diameter. She was available with black, blonde, and red hair, this one having red hair piled on top of her head held in place with the original yellow ribbon. The detailed hand-decoration typical of CAS pieces is evident in this piece with flowers on her dress, mesh gloves, eyes with eyelashes, and blushed cheeks. She is not marked on the bottom, but probably originally had a Ceramic Arts Studio label. At some point, someone added protective green felt around the bottom edge. She is in excellent vintage condition - no chips, hairlines, or crazing - and still has the original bell clapper held with yellow ribbon inside.
