Its main feature was the "Quick Focus" - focus assist system aimed at those who had trouble focusing through the viewfinder. The AL-1 provides focus-confirmation, aperture-priority autoexposure. This was Canon's first attempt at autofocus Technology. Condition of this camera:Optics: Very Good to Excellent condition. Viewfinder is in excellent condition - clear and bright with no dust noticeable.Lens is in very good to excellent condition - no cleaning marks/fungus/scratches. Very small amount of fine dust (very hard to see - must backlight to see any). Aperature - snappy rebound / no oil on blades / positive lock at all settings Mechanical: Excellent conditionShutter is snappy at all speeds as well as in "B" and "A" modes. Calibration appears accurate. NO CANON "A" SERIES SQUEAL - (camera has been prelubed to prevent this). Shutter lock is working correctly.Light meter is working and displaying accurately in viewfinder. Good calibration.Battery compartment in excellent condition with no corrosion. Camera requires 2 AAA batteries (not included). Battery check is working as designed (black button by rewind). Battery door in excellent condition (often a problem with the AL-1 cameras - be gentle opening and closing the door and it will last for you.NEW SEALS INSTALLEDWind/Rewind; Shutter Speed and ASA dials, Frame Counter, and Self Timer are all working as designed and operating smoothly. Backlight switch/button is working (see manual for operation of this feature)NOTE: When setting the self timer on this camera - slowly press and hold down the shutter button and let the self timer indicator (red light) flash 3 or 4 times before slowly releasing the shutter button (this a "Quirk" in the design of the AL-1 - almost all AL-1s that I have worked on have this quirk - if you press down hard on the shutter button and release it, the self timer will not work correctly).QF (Quick Focus) working very well; Red / Green / Red correct and very visible in viewfinder.Cosmetics: Very Good ConditionLeatherette is in excellent condition -Intack with no noticeable scratches or rub marks.Top plate is in excellent condition - no scratches or rub marks evident. Bottom plate is in good condition - several light scratches - most of which are by the tri-pod mount. (look closely at the pictures to see these).Comments: Great example of a CANON AL-1 QF in excellent mechanical / and optical condition. Very good cosmetic condition.
