IMPORTANT: Please do not make any purchase until you know for sure what UHF frequency range is needed for your radio operations. If you require assistance in determining your frequency range needed please email us with as many details as possible before you make your purchase. No laws of physics are being broken with our short stubby antenna. They are just enhanced to their maximum limits with the proper lab grade test equipment, our craftsmanship, and our RF experience to create a very high performance antenna that solves a real need for our customers. A tuned resonant antenna will always outperform any same size or larger non-resonant untuned antenna from any OEM or aftermarket source. We have duplicated the fact that most unknown poor quality, aftermarket, non-resonant, or untuned antennas will actually absorb or reflect most of the RF power just like a dummy load, while drawing excessive current from the portable radio battery. Our tuned antennas allow the portable radio transmitter to draw less current during transmit with the same or a higher RF output level with an added bonus of longer portable radio battery run time capacity. Proper tuning of an antenna takes time and most companies do not have the time to do things right with the associated labor cost since their goal is only pure profit and not quality. Our company fills a definite need in the marketplace for customers that demand a great quality portable antenna with the highest performance possible at a fair price. Others have tried to imitate our work by testing portable antennas using a radio chassis, RF adapters, coax cable jumpers, an inline watt meter, and other simple amateur radio grade meters. The addition of the inline RF test equipment will not allow an accurate representation of the true antenna tuning and performance. Their results were always disappointing as they have shared with their word as fact on many blog sites. A true antenna test requires a much higher grade of calibrated test equipment, experience, and a valid test setup just like we use on each of our antennas. This antenna meets all of the following criteria; Made from a known-brand antenna and not a cheap junk look-a-like clone copy from China.Be as short as physically possible for a low profile with great communications range.Must be professional looking on the portable radio or if used on a public safety service microphone.Uses a threaded RF connection to properly fit the portable.Exhibit an excellent resonance with a very low VSWR of 1.5:1 or less over the whole frequency range as advertised.Must maintain all specifications over the temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees Fahrenheit. Additional Information The following cities in the US are known to be using the UHF T-band frequency ranges as listed in addition to the 450 to 470 MHz band: Boston, MA 470-479 MHz and 482-488 MHz, Chicago, IL 470-482 MHz, Dallas, TX 482-488 MHz, Houston, TX 488-494 MHz, Los Angeles, CA 470-488 MHz and 506-512 MHz, Miami, FL 470-476 MHz, New York, NY 470-488 MHz, Philadelphia, PA 500-512 MHz, Pittsburgh, PA 470-476 MHz and 494-500 MHz, San Francisco, CA 482-494 MHz, Washington, DC 488-512 MHz. The cities of Buffalo, Cleveland, Detroit and other cities near the Canadian border are also using the UHF 421-439 MHz band for public safety. If you need to know what frequencies your specific agency is using please email us. Our tuned antennas will also reduce the current draw on the portable radio battery during transmit which allows for a much longer battery run time without having to change batteries. The outside antenna covering is made of black flexible PVC with a bottom weather skirt to protect the RF connection on the radio housing. The bottom of the each antenna has a two color coded stripe system to identify the tuned frequency range as shown in our photos. We use silver solder on all reworked internal antenna connections. The retuning of the antenna achieves a minimum signal gain of up to +3dB as compared to any untuned antenna which will effectively double your transmit and receive signal power due to the very low VSWR. Our retuning also allows for a much smaller antenna height without any loss of performance by eliminating all of the unused space inside the antenna. The tuned antenna will only operate properly in the advertised frequency range. Please see the certified performance graph image of this custom tuned high performance antenna. Our high performance antennas have greatly improved communications for Business, Commercial, Fire, GMRS, Government, Industrial, NASCAR racing, Public safety, Police, Ski patrol, and Rescue radio users. We have witnessed portable radios worth many thousands of dollars using cheap unknown quality untuned OEM antennas get beat out in performance by users with radios one forth the cost using our fine-tuned antennas. It is a fact that the most important part of any radio communications is the antenna system. The antenna is the device on a radio that converts RF power into radio waves during transmit and radio waves back into usable signals on receive. All transmitted and received signals must pass through the antenna system for any radio to work. A respected radio engineer once said, “If you had 100 dollars, invest 99 dollars in the antenna system and 1 dollar in the radio and you will always have great communications”. After many years of our own experience we have found that this statement to be true especially for today’s FM narrowband radio communications. VSWR is the efficiency measurement ratio of RF power that is being converted into radio waves by the antenna system as compared to the RF power that is not converted and reflected back into the radio as wasted energy. A VSWR of 1.5:1 has been and still is the customary maximum upper limit used in professional land mobile radio communications to determine a good transfer of RF power. Any VSWR above 1.6:1 is poor and any VSWR above 2:1 is definitely bad for performance and the long term health of the radio RF power output amplifier. Sadly many companies that manufacture products in China now use a VSWR of 2:1 as their good reference point to market their poor quality products and make them appear to be way better than what they actually are. We do not recommend using a standard remote speaker mic (RSM) with our custom tuned stubby antenna since the speaker mic coiled cord next to the antenna will physically block most of the antenna performance. Antennas used on the portable radio need clear space in all horizontal directions to work best. For best performance do not place rings of keys on or near the antenna. Also do not place any extra RSM coiled cord over the antenna which may look good but will choke the life out of your communications range. If you absolutely must use a RSM with your radio the best choice would be to use our custom tuned high performance whip antenna that is tuned to work with the obstruction caused by the RSM coiled cord. The second best choice would be to tie wrap the coiled mic cord to go in an immediate downward direction away from the antenna close to where it exits the radio accessory connector to avoid blocking the antenna signal. We can supply special instructions and a tywrap upon request. Please see our other antenna listings for our high performance whip antennas. We do not recommend transmitting with portable radios in the hand if the radio user has wet hair or is wearing metal frame eye glasses to maintain proper portable radio operation and stay within safe RF exposure limits. We have built thousands of custom tuned antennas for our customers with excellent results and zero defects. Our company has over 30+ years of experience in creating high performance and cost effective antenna solutions. Why continue to operate with an unknown portable radio antenna when you can STEP UP to the TRUE level of portable antenna performance! Unleash the full potential of your portable radio now with our Tuned High Performance antenna! For a very high Performance & Quality antenna just use the “Buy It Now” feature! TERMS and CONDITIONS: We will not be held liable for performance problems or damage caused by any antenna being used outside of the tuned frequency range or due to the wrong antenna frequency range chosen by the buyer. It is the buyer’s responsibility to verify what specific UHF frequencies or UHF frequency range is needed. A UHF antenna will definitely not work at all in the 700/800 MHz radio band.FYI: Just because the antenna purchased fits on the portable radio and looks great does not guarantee communications performance. You must verify the tuned frequency range of the antenna purchased matches the actual frequency range used in your portable radio.Items will be shipped to the confirmed USA PayPal address only. Any buyer abuse, fraud, tampering, or illegal activity will not be tolerated and eBay will be notified of the situation. The TERMS and CONDITIONS as listed will not be modified in any way after the item is purchased.
