Description: DESCRIPTION A small glass trinket tray? made in the Germanic empire of the early to mid 19th century in the Beidermeier period. It has an overall appearance of amber glass but the etched cut roundels are an amethyst colour. There is a total of seven roundels, 6 of which are engraved. I can't speak German and had difficulty interpreting some of the Gothic letters but I think it reads "Glaube hoffnung liebe gebundat glück und freude" which apparently translates something like Faith, hope, love, happiness and joy. The engraving is very fine and very detailed. It measures approx 3.5" diameter, 3" high. CONDITION Very good, no chips, cracks or restoration.
