[Product number: EPITA-029] [UHQCD] [Domestic press] [Japanese band/commentary included] [EPITAGRAPH] Bruckner: Symphony No. 9 / Walter & Vienna Philharmonic (1953) [UHQCD] [Limited release] Bruckner: Symphony No. 9 in D minor (original version) Bruno Walter (conductor) Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra Recording: August 20, 1953 (Salzburg Festival) Festival Theater, Salzburg (live) Produced by Epitagraph★The year 1953 is It has been a fulfilling and busy year for Walter. While recording Mozart's "Haffner No. 35", "No. 39", "No. 40", and Brahms' "Nos. 1 to 3" with the New York Philharmonic (NYP) for Columbia Records, in August, he recorded with the Vienna Philharmonic (VPO). He will appear at the Salzburg Festival and in September at the Edinburgh Festival. By the way, Brahms' "German Requiem" = EPITA. 019 on the Epitagraph label was held in Edinburgh on September 8th. ★Recording on the second day of the two-day Salzburg Festival held on August 19th and 20th, 1953. Other pieces on the program included the ``Euriante'' Overture and Mozart's ``Prague'' on the first day, and Beethoven's ``No. 2'' on the second day. Walter generally moves at a fast tempo, and the graceful facial expressions he occasionally shows give us a sense of peace. The highlight is the finale. His strong will and dramatic composition ability, which moves forward dramatically with a firm expression, creates an overwhelming impression. The Vienna Philharmonic produces a strong yet supple and beautiful sound, allowing you to immerse yourself in the profound, sublime, and expansive world of this masterpiece. There is no interruption from the beginning to the end of the song, and there is applause after the song ends, so it can be said that it has a rich sense of realism. Walter's recordings of Bruckner's symphonies include Nos. 4, 7, 8, and 9, but it is the last No. 9 that he has recorded the most. In addition to conducting a session recording with the Columbia Symphony Orchestra in November 1959, there are 5 types of live performances alone [(1) NYP version at Carnegie Hall (CaH) on March 17, 1946, (2) 2048 The Philadelphia Orchestra version released on February 28, 1957, (3) the main version, (4) the NYP version on December 27, 1953 at CaH, and (5) the NYP version on February 10, 1957 at CaH], but the most moving one is I will introduce the performance as a UHQCD. ★This is a CD made from a tape reprinted from a broadcast sound source, and will be released for the first time in Japan. Although the sound quality still has some of the noise that often comes with reprints, it is more vivid than previous overseas releases! Good and clear sound with extended high range and deep low range. The wide dynamic range that changes from pp to ff is also nothing short of amazing (for something from this era). Carefully remastered using the latest technology at King Sekiguchidai Studio, and released as UHQCD, the “definitive edition of high-quality CDs”! Thank you for visiting our store.
