I do not use stock photos or photos of other people’s items.This is an interesting boxed presentation set of six 4 1/2" silver plated spoons with the crossed rifles logo of The Society of Miniature Rifle Clubs (SMRC) founded in London in 1904. The spoons were made by Edwin Blyde & Co. of Sheffield (1854-1948) and are marked reverse E.B. & Co. S (Spur) EP. (In the photo what appears to be a "4" is just a tarnish mark on that spoon.) I was able to identify the crossed rifles logo using on-line photos of a presentation spoon in sterling by the same maker with the same logo in its box with paper label. See last three photos, NOT included. The sterling spoon has a date letter W for 1938. The logo seems to be struck as part of the spoon. In the boxed set being sold here, each logo seems to be engraved or stamped. I see other fancier sterling spoons for SMRC but no others like those offered here, in singles or in sets. It is suggested by an eBay member these sets were still being awarded in the 1970s. I cannot find any for sale or in contemporary ads. Significant flaws not depicted in the photos are described here-with, minor flaws and normal wear are not. Unless the item is described as new, assume there will be minor flaws or wear commensurate with a used item of given age.
