Description: BOSS SDE-3000EVH DUAL DIGITAL DELAY Description Condition: New Guitarist Eddie Van Halen used three cabinets to create a powerful stereo wet/dry/wet delay sound. EVH and BOSS have collaborated to develop the SDE-3000EVH Dual Digital Delay to faithfully reproduce that sound. Two Roland SDE-3000 rack delays are mounted in a floor-type chassis. The SDE-3000EVH is equipped with a full array of inputs and outputs that can be used to realize wet/dry/wet setups. In addition, eight EVH presets were created by EVH using the SDE-3000 that Eddie actually used as a reference. The SDE-3000 is a stereo delay unit that allows you to experience the expansive stereo delay sound that Eddie Van Halen loved. Eddie Van Halen and the SDE-3000 Eddie Van Halen is arguably one of the most influential guitarists in history. His joy for music, his passionate performances, and his extraordinary technique have captivated and influenced generations of players. His unparalleled guitar sound is also an integral part of his legend. Throughout his career, Eddie constantly re-evaluated his amp and effects setup in pursuit of the best sound. Two Roland SDE-3000s were crucial to Eddie's unique wet/dry/wet setup of three cabinets. The SDE-3000's extensive parameter set perfectly met his delay sound requirements and allowed for precise sound editing. Eddie continued to experiment with all kinds of delays after using the SDE-3000, always looking for a better sound. However, he never found a better delay than the SDE-3000, and throughout his long career, the two SDE-3000s remained the core equipment in his stage rig. EVH and BOSS unite to develop the SDE-3000EVH EVH continues to share Eddie's guitar ideas and vision with musicians around the world. And so, years back, EVH and BOSS began this project to bring the legendary approach of using two vintage SDE-3000s back to life in the modern age. EVH and BOSS worked closely and carefully together on the project to ensure that every player could experience Eddie's original delay sound. BOSS arranged for EVH to build a number of prototypes. After numerous tests and feedback, the result is a fully reproduced sound preset, complete with EVH's signature stripes. Reproduction of Eddie Van Halen's Delay Setup The original SDE-3000 was a mono delay unit, but Eddie used two of them to create a unique setup. The SDE-3000EVH combines two SDE-3000s in one pedal and has a dedicated EVH preset bank for recalling Eddie's settings. ■Wet, Dry, and Wet Eddie pioneered the wet-dry-wet setup using three cabinets in the early 1990s. The center cabinet outputs the original sound, while the left and right cabinets play a delay effect sound that swings left and right, establishing a very three-dimensional sound field. The SDE-3000EVH can easily reproduce this complex setup with multiple output terminals and highly flexible internal routing. ■Fully reproduced EVH presets The SDE-3000EVH offers eight EVH presets that can be instantly recalled from dedicated buttons on the panel. The first four presets are exact replicas of the settings Eddie actually used for wet/dry/wet setups. The second four presets were created to use the same sounds for standard stereo amp setups. Vintage Digital Delay Reborn While most digital delays have a clear, contoured sound, the SDE-3000 delivers a softer, warmer delay sound. This iconic sound character is the result of the musical effects of the analog parts and circuit design. The slight change in frequency response in the head amp, the distortion caused by magnetic saturation in the low-pass filter, and the unique fluctuations caused by the parts used in the original model all contribute to the sound. The SDE-3000EVH is a faithful reproduction of the original sound and behavior. Reproduction of every detail, updated for the modern age The SDE-3000EVH not only sounds like the original SDE-3000, but even its parameters have been faithfully reproduced, allowing you to create the same sound as back then. Even the secondary behavior of each setting has been reproduced, with the frequency response changing according to the delay time value. The beautiful modulation can also be controlled just like the original. RATE and DEPTH as well as a phase switching function for the delay sound that enhances the effect of the modulation. On the other hand, the memory capacity for storing created sounds has been expanded to a maximum of 92 pieces. It is also possible to set carryover, which was not available on the original, and to leave the delay sound when the effect is turned off. Many improvements have been made for the modern musician. Possibilities for sound creation surpassing the original The SDE-3000EVH is equipped with two SDE-3000s that support stereo input and output in one unit, and each can be configured with individual parameter settings. The footswitch on the main unit allows for effect ON/OFF, memory switching, and TAP TEMPO during performance, as well as momentary control not available on the original. MIDI input and output are also supported, allowing for precise setups in an effects switching system. The GA-FC is also highly expandable, allowing you to connect multiple external footswitches, expression pedals, or GA-FC foot controllers to greatly extend its controllability.
