In 1994 Hendra Hardware’s alignment with the Mitre10 group secured a better foundation for the business through superior branding, stronger marketing and increased buying power. In 2010 the store’s founder Chris Davies mentioned his plans to retire and move on to greener pastures to the property owners – the Pinkey family. Alan Pinkey who opened Pinkey’s Convenience store back in the 1970’s and his son Matthew saw an opportunity to ensure the survival of this local icon and the deal was struck.
