His artistic style seems to arise during the time of WWII under influence of surrealism on developed further into the avant-garde. Lacina painted fantastic images and figures which were full of lyric metamorphoses and were inspired by landscapes, men, things, and musical themes. Since 1950 he devoted himself to graphic work and illustration of books came back to painting in the year 1958. His lyric painting perception of reality is based on his original poetic and philosophical meditations. Lacina graduated from the High School of Architecture in Prague where his teachers were his countrymen Oldřich Blažíček, a famous master of modern landscape painting, and Cyril Bouda, the artist of supreme genius. Lacina made his debut in art as a member of the so-called Left-Front to keep a balance between the influences of his models such as Josef Šíma, Salvator Dali and other surrealists. But his real apprenticeship was passed under Karel Teige, the Czech modernist avant-garde artist, and through the relationship with the artistic Avant-garde. In the 1930s Lacina belongs to the Group RA, an association of the Czech surrealists. His first exhibition was in the so-called D37, and immediately after finishing WWII he participated in the exhibition of the Czechoslovak Avant-Garde. But his works were present abroad because he was a member of the expedition Art tchécoslovaque 1938-1946 in Paris and in Brussels. It is certainly the acquaintance with František Halas, the most prominent Czech lyric poet and with Oldřich Menhart who was a typographer named «the prince of the Czech book culture» that displayed his relationship to the Czech book graphic. Lacina had illustrated 60 books. Lacina made a solid pedagogical career in Brno. In 1968 he was awarded the title of meritorious artist.
