About The Artist: Perhaps best known as a graphic artist and printmaker, Benton Spruance attended PAFA, eventually receiving two Guggenheim fellowships to study across the United States and abroad in Europe. He produced hundreds of lithographs during his lifetime, eventually becoming the Chairman of the Fine Art department at Beaver College and the printmaking department at the Philadelphia College of Art. His works are held in numerous noteworthy institutions, including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Tate, The National Gallery of Art, the Smithsonian, and the British Museum, among many others.
