PLEASE SCROLL DOWN FOR LARGER PICTURES OF THIS VERY INTERESTING LAMP Here we have a very unusual Bellova Gnome lamp. Gnome lamps were the lamps that were made in two glass parts……a base and a shade. They were made by H. G. Mcfaddin, the makers of the famous Emeralite banker’ lamps. This particular gnome lamp is quite unusual, as it portrays a series of Scottish Terriers or “Scottie Dogs”. This pattern is very rare to see. The shade is in excellent condition. Unfortunately, the base has been damaged. It shows a couple of cracks and chips on the “neck”. Fortunately, when assembled, the chips on the “neck” are hard to see as the “neck” of the shade sits into the “neck” of the base and camouflages the chips on the base’s “neck”. And, the cracks are not going to be noticed, unless one is really looking for them, in my opinion. Bottom line….in spite of the damage to the base, the lamp presents very well. Needless to say, the pictures form part of the description of this lamp. The base has the correct BELLOVA CZECHOSLOVAKIA ink stamp on the bottom. Please note that the background color of the lamp is cream colored, not white. The first group of pictures, which was taken with the lamp is on, give the incorrect impression that the background is white. I’m not a photographer, so I can’t explain the technical reasons why the background appears white when the lamp is on in the pictures, but, in person, when the light is on it’s not white. Rather, the background is the same cream color that the last group of pictures reflect, where the lamp was turned off. When you turn on the lamp, the background will not be white…it will be cream colored. The lamp has been rewired for safety with period-looking brown cloth-covered wire, so it’s ready to plug in and enjoy. Bulb not included, as they do not travel well. So, if you’re a dog person, or a Scottish Terrier collector or a Bellova lamp collector, this is a very rare and interesting example at a very reasonable price.
