Beethoven Piano Concertos Nos. 3, 4, 5 - Edwin Fischer

Description: This 1984 British mono import 2LP foldout album from the HMV Treasury label of EMI Records (RLS 2900013) is a retransfer from the original tapes of performances by Edwin Fischer of Beethoven's Piano Concertos Nos. 3 (C minor, Op. 37), 4 (G, Op. 58) and 5 (E flat, Op. 73 "Emperor"). The original recordings were made at various times in 1951 and 1954, and first released in the years immediately following, but this issue was reproduced in 1984 from the original mono tapes. All concertos are performed by Edwin Fischer (piano), accompanied by the Philharmonia Orchestra, conducted by Wilhelm Furtwängler. Concertos 3 and 4 are also credited to director Manoug Parikian. The extensive album notes are in English, variously written by Hubert Foss, Burnett James and Denis Matthews. The outer foldout sleeve shows a small collection index sticker in the upper right corner of the back.
