Description: Rare, beautiful vintage Japanese black textured silk haori jacket - women’s - late Showa period, circa 1980s - near mint vintage condition. Exquisite vintage silk haori in excellent vintage condition, showcasing intricate woven designs of leaves and grape vines in subtly colored metallic threads. Features a single mon (family crest) on the center back, denoting formality. Includes intricately woven tying cords (himo). Handmade in traditional style. Age & condition: Likely late Showa period (1926-1989). Near mint vintage condition, typical of gently used items of its age. Size: Fits a range of sizes up to M. Measurements: Cuff to cuff width: 127cm/50", overall length: 71cm/28", width across the back: 60cm/23.5”. The tying cords (himo) are present, which is a bonus as they are often missing. These ones are intricately woven in fine light blue silk with a fine sparkling silver thread and tasseled ends. Haori jackets are worn over full-length kimonos and typically secured with tying cords (himo). Originally worn by men, they became fashionable for women in the early 19th century. Can be repurposed for evening wear or display.
