This auction is for a brand new copy of an original set of handwritten lyrics to 'Penny Lane' written by Paul McCartney (2 pages - only final version shown). Not signed but the lyrics are clearly in the hand of McCartney. The lyrics are a handwritten working manuscript of the 'Penny Lane' lyrics from 1966. They are written and corrected in blue ink on slightly yellowed paper. There are 2 versions here (only final version shown) as the 16 line first draft on 1 page (first draft of 'barber' verse, 'nurse' verse, final verse and chorus) and a further 11 lines on second page (final draft of 'barber' verse, first draft of 'banker' verse, part of the chorus). 'Penny Lane' was finished just before most of the Sgt Pepper songs, but didn't fit the Pepper concept so was released as a single. George Martin always believed that 'Penny Lane / Strawberry Fields Forever' was the best record the Beatles ever made. They were later released on the 'Magical Mystery Tour' album. This item would look absolutely fantastic framed and placed on display. The copy you receive is on the best quality (10x8 inches) 160gm paper, which is as good as it gets! Obviously, the copy you receive will not have 'Sample' across the centre - this is purely for the purposes of the photo on Ebay. The original of this item would cost you a small (or in fact - large) fortune, and this item is a copy of the original. Any questions, please ask.
