Description: Antique wooden figural female tribal statue From the African Ivory Coastal tribe, Baule people. Stands 24” tall, has wonderful dark patina. She is sitting on a stool, has stunning hair sculpture and shows ritualistic facial scarring. There is a little damage to this antique statue, one breast has broken and the bottom of the back braid I believe. Thee has been a repair on the arm as well , all look like quite long ago, probably from one incident. But it displays wonderfully and it just adds character to it and its story. The base has remnants of a vintage hand written masking tape that’s been taped over in clear. This and a few other tribal statues were from a very old private collection of islander and headhunter artifacts and most had collection labels on them…. all acquisition dates (on various other items) I saw were pre 1960, all pieces having been bought on trip and they were old then. It stands on its own with the various leveling felt pads seen in pics…., 24” tall, 4 pounds. I ship most orders out same or next business day and I’m happy to combine items and save on shipping, see my other listings.
