What is a Silver Strike?A Silver Strike is a Limited Edition Gaming Token which is won from a special slot machine in a protective plastic holder. People from all over the world collect, buy, sell and trade these unique gaming tokens. The first Silver Strikes were won from special slot machines in the Reno/Tahoe area of Nevada in 1992. The tokens have been issued with redeemable values of $2, $3, $7, $10, $20, $28, $40, $200 and $300. The most common denomination is $10. Bally's released Silver Strikes from 1994 - 2003. About Bally's Las Vegas:The corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo Road is one of the busiest in Las Vegas. In 1963, the property was occupied by the Three Coins Motel on 43 acres. In 1967 it was the Bonanza Hotel and Casino. Then the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino opened on December 5, 1973, owned by Kirk Kerkorian. It was the largest hotel in the world at the time. The hotel's theme reflected Kerkorian's interest in movies and his ownership of MGM. For years it has been one of the Strip's most popular entertainment destinations. On November 21, 1980, the MGM Grand suffered a devastating fire that started in a restaurant and traveled up into the hotel, killing 87 guests and employees. The disaster made such an impact on hotel safety that it led to the implementation of fire safety improvements throughout the world. In 1986, the hotel was sold to Bally Manufacturing (maker of gaming equipment) and the name was changed to Bally's. The MGM Grand name was transferred to what is now the MGM Grand (also built by Kerkorian). The property is now owned by Caesars Entertainment Corporation. Bally's sister property Paris Las Vegas was built in 1999 and the two properties are connected by a promenade. Fun Fact: One of the longest running shows in Las Vegas was at Bally's - Jubilee opened in 1981 and ended in February 2016.Fun Fact #2: Dean Martin was the entertainer on opening night.Fun Fact #3: The Las Vegas Monorail connects the MGM Grand to the Sahara Hotel with a stop at Bally's/Paris.Fun Fact #4: Bally's has been featured in many films throughout the years including: "Honeymoon in Vegas", "Leaving Las Vegas", and "Rocky IV".
