Subtitled: “ Christian Character. President of Brown University from 1872 to 1889.” This book is a nice collection of the sermons given by the author to graduate classes at Brown University from the years 1873 - 1889. Born in 1815 in Attleboro, Massachusetts, Ezekiel Gilman Robinson was educated at Brown University, served as the 7th President of the University from 1872-1889. During his tenure at Brown University, he held the Chair of Moral Philosophy and Metaphysics, oversaw a healthy construction atmosphere, funds to the college were increased, gave the sermons included in the book, preached across Providence in numerous churches, and delivered a series of lectures on the History of Intellectual Philosophy and Metaphysical Science In Manning Hall at the University. Robinson passed away in 1894 in Boston, Massachusetts, at the age of 79, and was buried in Mount Hope Cemetery, Rochester, New York.
