Description: YB-49 Flying Wing Wreckage Piece Compressor Blade From 1948. The flying wing crashed on June 5, 1948. Captain Glenn Edwards and all four other members of the crew were killed. My grandfather went to the crash site a few days after the plane crash. I have no certification to verify these are from the wreckage other than what my grandfather had told the family. My grandfather also worked on every single one of these planes. He did work in aviation most of his career and even owned an aviation store. He loved aviation all is life. All my family members have one of these and a few have chosen to sell them off. I’m keeping a few for myself but getting rid of a few as well. Back in 1948 it was not illegal to pick these up and after my research this is not a violation of the national transportation service board. The way that these blades are twisted and burnt shows the severity of the impact. Price is for one compressor blade only. Edwards Air Force Base was named after Captain Glenn W Edwards. The first 2 pics show where on the Allison engine that these compressor blades are located. This is a really neat piece of aviation history.
