Description: I own an advertising specialty company - now in our 44th year I am happy to report - and I worked in the industry for many years prior to establishing my own firm. For a long time my best client was what was formerly known as "The Bell System". Of course after divestiture it was broken up into what was generally called the "Baby Bells" - and later morphed into many variations. So over the years we worked very closely with Western Electric, AT&T, Southern Bell, Lucent Technologies, OFS, Avaya, etc. I collected many over-run samples, one-of-a-kind spec samples, and the likes. I am now selling much of that collection via eBay. In 2000 when Lucent Technologies spun off Avaya, we sold them a wide variety of advertising items. Many we actually inventoried so Avaya customers could order smaller quantities and also so we could make instant delivery when needed. Here are salesman over-run samples, all form the early 2000's. * Avaya liked writing instruments - O.K., pens. The two examples in black with the Avaya Communication logo are metal twist action. These are nice pens and even gift packaged in a two piece plastic box.* The two burgundy pens are also metal twist action. The logo is in silver to match the pen trim.* For lower priced pens, we sold them the two plastic top action pens. These have a foam cushion comfort grip. One example just has the Avaya logo in red. The other we did in conjunction with Anixter, one of Avaya's better customers. So this pen has the red Avaya logo along with the blue Anixter one.* Trim Trio set by W.E. Bassett Company. This was one of my favorite specialties. It features a three-blade pocket knife, nail clipper and ring attachment - all in one convenient unit. The three blades are sharp knife, nail file, opener - screwdriver. The tension is maintained by a patented pressure feature. There were knock-offs, but they could not use the patented feature. For tension those had "waffle" plates between blades. However, over a brief period the plates would straighten out and the blades then dangle freely. The clipper remains sharp. This complete package was quality manufactured in the U.S.A.* Stress reliever - 2.5" in white with red logo. Made in the U.S.A.* Large scratch pad, size 4" x 7".* Small scratch pad, size 4" x 3". You note this one contains both Avaya and Anixter logos. As indicated, these are all salesman samples and never used. They have been kept in boxes in one of our sample rooms for all of these years. They are essentially in as new condition. Of course, as the pens still have the original refills, if used rather than displayed, new refills are needed - which are readily available. An excellent addition to anyone who worked at Avaya or collects old Bell System memorabilia. A very rare find for sure. From a smoke-free, pet-free climate controlled environment.
