Peale 1848" and with marginal note in his hand on p 92. First edition, foolscap 8vo ( 7" x 4 1/4"), pp. (1-v), vi, (vii-viii), (1), 2-259, (1). Subscribers list with "Charles W. Peale, Philadelphia" on p. 255. Old full sheep, smooth back in five gilt fillet compartments, gilt burgundy-red morocco lettering piece in the second. Good with cracked front joint somewhat loose, some wear to end caps, edges and corners. Sheets age toned, unmarked, complete but front free endpaper torn out.
