Dimensions: 35 inches wide, 36 inches tall 19 inches deep Origin: China Material: Elm Wood Condition: Distressed antique condition, signs of use. Drawers slide properly and doors open and close effortlessly. No nails or screws were used during its creation. It was constructed solely using complicated ancient Chinese joinery techniques, known for their complexity and precision. There are dovetails used in the drawers and pegs throughout the piece. This appears to have been assembled above the timber line in Tibet using wood from other furniture. Some of the wood was hand hewn. There are patches within the panels, rectangular holes patched with perfectly fitted pieces of wood and even a bow tie shaped patch inside the left door. The lacquer has developed a gorgeous patina. The trim is red, green, and there is black and brown in the overall surfaces. The flowers represent love, affection and longevity. This style of painting is called Hua niao which translates to “flowers and birds”. This weighs approximately 40-50 pounds.
