Description: Here is a genuine Victorian ANTIQUE Thermoplastic Union Photo Case for holding one 2" x 2" photo inside. It is lined with purple velvet interior with gilt detailing on the metal. It has glass to protect a photo also. The case shows the original patent dates for S. Peck of October 3rd, 1854 and also H. Halverson of August 7th, 1855. The octagonal shaped case is in excellent condition. The interior velvet lining shows a slight bit of wear and the gilt metal shows some oxidation spotting which I assume could be cleaned or brightened up. I am not an expert on this, so I leave it for the buyer's discretion. What a neat piece of history and great holder if you are fortunate to have any tin types of ancestors which would fit inside. Just to think this case existed BEFORE the civil war is amazing to contemplate. I rarely find REAL antiques, so this was a fun surprise! Ships in 24 hours from my Smoke Free home to yours. Thanks for looking at my sweet Victorian antique photo case.
