Description: ANTIQUE THREE QUART SALT GLAZE MILK BOWL / CROCK This 19th century dark gray 3 quart salt glazed milk bowl / crock measures 5-1/2" tall with a diameter of 10" top, 6-1/2" bottom and weighs 5-1/2 pounds. It has a 3/4" deep concave bottom, two small ears/handles, and a 1/2" tall top rim that extends out 1/16-1/8 inches. The lightly glazed interior is darker than the exterior and has distinctive potter's grooves and a smooth convex bottom. It is in very good condition with no visible repairs, cracks or hairlines. It does have several small chips on the bottom edge of the top rim. It was acquired in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia so could easily be from one of the 19th century potteries located in Strasburg,VA. A nice harder to find example of 19th century stoneware! NOTE: All stoneware is double boxed for safe delivery. THANKS FOR VISITING LANE'S COUNTRY LARK!
