Description: A wonderful bold small Uzbek rug/mat. These little rugs are becoming more scarce. They exude a certain primitive tribal feel that is only Uzbek. Belouch and Turkmen rugs are far more polished and finely woven but these Uzbek rugs are rough tough rugs that weren't traded or made to be sold. The Uzbek weavers were among the first to experiment with dyes that weren't natural - and the orange and green dyes are doubtlessly not natural. That said, the rug's colors are still in pretty good shape. The rug pile is still fairly thick. The ends were at one time secured but that is a little unraveled and a couple corners are frayed. The selvages are intact but not great, so I think this rug needs a quiet spot or a wall or table display point. It's an old rug. Its condition is consistent or better than most tribal rugs of that age. It is the bold statement the rug makes that is what sets this rug apart. This rug has been part of my collection for many years. Now it's time for someone else to enjoy it. I photographed the rug outdoors during a sunny break from the rains. If you need additional photos or have questions about the piece, let me know. You might also check my other unpromoted rugs and bags. Best - Bruce
