This clock is equipped with a 7 jewel platform balance wheel escapement instead of a pendulum. The design and condition of the case is incredible as the pictures will show. This model has a lot of great features that is not seen in other mantel clocks. It has a solid Mahogany case instead of veneer and shows its unaltered original crazed shellac finish. No character marks are on the case. The cylinder shape design that holds the movement looks as if the dial is floating on top of a flowing carved design of intricate wave patterns that flow to each end. This pattern is raised on a base that has a nice step up molding design. Please utilize the zoom feature to show just how beautiful this clock really is. This clock has a beautiful 4-inch silvered dial with raised bronze Arabic numbers that can be clearly seen from a distance and fancy bronze serpentine shape hour and minute hands that compliment the dial face. The dial is then surrounded by a silver sash to give it a rich look. The original convex beveled glass has no scratches or chips in it and is surrounded by its original finish polished brass bezel. The bezel opens and closes perfectly with a nice snap sound. The brass back door has a great design and appears to have the original cloth with slight wear in the material. The back door also opens and closes perfectly with a nice snap sound. This clock has its original premium D-105 round plate half-hour strike movement that was completely rebuilt and comes with polished gold sealed spring barrels. The movement has polished gold plates and is a very solid, well built and far superior to other round movements. This movement has the same character and precision as the Seth Thomas 15 day movement. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS MOVEMENT REQUIRES NO PENDULUM WHICH MEANS YOU DON’T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT KEEPING THE CLOCK PERFECTLY LEVEL. A proper size one-sided key comes with the clock. This clock strikes on the hours and once on each half-hour on a cathedral bell metal gong that is pleasing to the ear. Just click on the video, turn up the volume on your phone or computer and enjoy. The clock minute hand was physically moved to show strike working. What I do to ensure you are buying a quality clock. Ø Disassemble the entire clock and movement myself completely. Ø Install Seth Thomas parts ONLY on the movement if needed. Ø Rebush all worn pivot holes with superior bronze burgeon bushings. Ø Clean the entire movement ultrasonically. Ø Clean the original dial or have it sent out professionally and restored to Seth Thomas dial specifications. Ø Clean bezel, parts and chime by hand. Ø Clean the outside of the original finish by hand with mild cleaners as well as the inside and apply a coat of wax by hand. Ø Reassemble the clock, oil and lube in the proper places. Ø Adjust chime and strike hammer sequence properly to assure smooth and even strikes at each hour and half-hour. Ø Smoke free, pet free home. All clocks are cleaned odors removed.
