Description: For sale, a wonderful antique very old rare to find this size and condition all hand carved from one piece of wood, dough riser - trencher. You can feel the hand carvings on the wood, it is not a bowl, the sides are not high enough to be a bowl. They would place dough and let it sit and rise. It is in it's found original condition, I never stain, paint or oil pieces, I always leave them in their found condition. I have owned this piece for over 40 years now. I only displayed it in the middle of one of my farm tables. It is a grayish brown color. Their is a slight crack, see photos normal for it's age and use. It does not go through all of the way. It is oblong shaped. Very large piece, I have placed a normal 12" round hand carved bread board on it, so that you can see the size. It is 31" long x 26" wide. It truly makes a bold statement when placed in the middle of a farm table, counter top etc........ It was all hand carved from one large piece of wood, appears to be from a large tree cutting, very primitive piece. I purchased this on the Eastern Shore of Maryland over 40 years ago. It was a old farm estate sale. You will not find another one like it, great size, love the hand carved strokes. It would look great displayed in your Farm House home.
