Description: Antique Rand McNally map of South America, hand colored, Canvas & Wood, Brass. This is a very cool antique Rand McNally map from the 1880’s. It’s from their earliest series of pull down maps made for colleges. It’s 40 inches wide and approximately 66 inches long. It still has its Woden roller and bottom piece along with its brass pull tab. The map is highly detailed and fascinating to look at especially as many of the countries it shows no longer exist. The map is hand colored on paper over canvas and is in pretty good shape overall especially considering it’s age. But that’s not to say it’s without defects. The entire map could stand to be cleaned and lower part of the map has the greatest wear with both sides of the bottom beginning to come loose and fray. There are small tears and small holes starting to form. But overall it’s a still solid and unique collectible. Please look carefully at all pictures, as they are part of the description.
