Description: Antique Phinney Hand Tinted Photo Titled Tranquil Pool in the Original Frame - Charles Sawyer, Wallace Nutting, David Davidson style and era. Frame measures 12 3/4" x 15 1/4" that fits 11 1/2" x 14"; the photo alone is 7" x 8 3/4". New England landscape with birch trees and pond, probably New Hampshire. The frame is original and is a classic standard Art Nouveau pattern wood frame. Fine condition in solid & sturdy original frame with glass panel cover, the matte is good condition with minor age toning - see my pics. Phinney was same era and style as Charles Sawyer, Wallace Nutting, David Davidson and the other famous landscape photographers. A. Emery Phinney was known as an artist and photographer. He had a studio in Jackson, New Hampshire where he produced many hand-colored scenic images of the region. He was the son of Percy P. Phinney and Jemima Rebecca Proctor Phinney. His wives were Florence Edna Mears Phinney and Mabel A. Phinney. He has one son, Ellsworth E.
