Description: This painting of a flock of sheep with a farmer is by the Belgian artist Paul Schouten (1860-1922). Paul is the half brother of the also well known painter Henry Schouten. Paul specialized in paintings of dogs, cattle, horses and other animals. This large painting is a good example of his work, professionally executed with a wonderful sunset in the distance. The painting appears to have been repaired with possibly a crack that was in the sky (see photos). This is probably why the canvas has been mounted to a board so that the crack could be repaired. The Frame is original to the painting and it complements the painting well. Note that the frame has been painted with gold paint and several cracks in the frame have been fixed. Dimensions: 40"wide, 30" tall and 5.5" thick in its frame. The canvas size is 28.5" wide and 18" tall. Track Page Views With Auctiva's FREE Counter Listing and template services provided by inkFrog
