Description: ARTIST: Johan Ulrik Bredsdorff is a well-listed Danish artist, whose works have been offered at auctions multiple times, who was an exhibitor both internationally (f.ex. at the World Fair in Chicago in 1893) and at the famous Charlottenborg. He was a scholar of famous Danish artist Vilhelm Kyhn and were close friends with Godfred Christensen. He went on study trips to Switzerland, Norway and Italy. His favorite scenes are no doubt various landscapes, but occasionally he paints cityscapes and more rarely interiors with figures. PAINTING: Oil on canvas. The painting is an impressionistic rendering of a bay landscape with a sand dune and a small tree dominating the foreground and the bay itself with a small rocking fishing boat to the right dominating the center of the piece. In the far background there are small houses and to the right is an old mill. It is dated to 1921. Signed: “J. U . Bredsdorff” in the lower right corner. SIZE: With frame: 75,5 cm/15.2" * 36 cm/12.6". Without frame: 65 cm/11" * 25,5 cm/8.5". CONDITION: The painting is in great ready-to-hang condition - no holes, tears or missing paint. The frame has scratches and stains.
