Kestner Sammy 211 doll, which was made in Germany in 1910, making him approximately 113 years old at the time of this writing. He is approximately 14” tall and is marked “Made in F. Germany, J.D.K. 211” on the back of his neck. He is made of bisque with one bent arm, one curved arm, and legs with that distinctive turned up toe and curved baby legs. He has sandy brown pate hair, beautiful big weighted blue glass sleep eyes, peaches and cream complexion with nice rosy cheeks, painted upper and lower lashes, finely feathered brows, cute open mouth with tongue and two bottom teeth, outlined lips, cute little double chin, and a nice facial expression. The body has some damage, including some missing paint, some cracking on his upper back, and the arms and around the upper chest look like they were repaired/repainted(?) at some point. His head is in very good condition and his eyes were professionally reset, with the only damage being loose paint on his eyelids that you can see when the eyes are closed. Also, his wig looks to be dry-rotting, but it may very well be just old glue. He comes dressed in a christening gown with detailed embroidering on the front and lace trim, with a matching bonnet, diaper, one-piece undergarment, slip, and crochet yellow pom-pom booties. The gown has some damage and has been patched somewhere along the way. I do not know if they are original to this doll, but they are obviously vintage, if not antique.
