Description: HISTORY: Mary Atkinson Colt's summer travel album from August to September, 1926. Part of Mary's life is chronicled in George Howe Colt's New York Times notable book of the year, "The Big House: A Century in the Life of an American Summer Home." On Page 103, "Although Harvard degrees were expected of all the male members of her family; my grandmother wasn't expected to attend college. Instead, like many other Boston debutantes, she sailed to Paris to study at the Sorbonne, take in the Comedie-Francaise, and wander the Louvre." DETAILS/CONDITION: Backstrip of album is missing; both covers are very loose. Many of the album pages are detached and many pages are torn. Postcards themselves are in VG condition. There are 74 postcards, as well as some small photos. Some postcards are pasted. Mary wrote information on the back of some postcards. Most are blank. Locations include Chartres, London, Amiens, Rouen, Paris, Vitre, Nancy, Siegburg, Bruges, and many other cities and towns.
