Our user name is @textiletrunk This textile is a wonderful, antique European hand-woven, heavy hemp table runner, stair runner, or heavyweight upholstery fabric! ~ This fabric can be used for any of these purposes! ~ The last two photos in this listing are example photos of other similar fabrics in use around the home - they arent photos of this particular bolt, but just there to give you some inspiration and ideas about how to incorporate these lovely fabrics into your home and life! *~*~ Ideal for any period or farmhouse interior! ~ This lovely textile was used to make very heavy grain sacking fabric, but now this particular bolt would make great table runners, rustic pillows, area rugs, and stair runners! This unused bolt of homespun dates from the 1920s. ~ Gorgeous! Wonderful RARE blue and brown center stripes in the center and along one edge. ~ The ground tone is a lovely warm natural oatmeal hemp tone! ~* This textile is a wonderful very heavy weight, floppy, extremely durable, and slightly coarse! ~ Each short end is finished in a hand stitched hem. You can tell these were cut into lengths for making grain sacks because there are little stitched holes on each end for the drawstrings to be put through. ~*~ I love knowing that these textiles were produced without the use of chemicals so are totally natural, organic textiles. ~*~ For easy stair runner instructions, please see below, and see condition below. ~*~ ( EL 585 ) MEASUREMENTS: This single bolt of fabric measures about 93 inches (2.58 yards) long by 17.5 inches wide. CONDITION : This bolt is in overall great condition, with some pale marks and dirt that should wash and fade over time. This particular section of the larger original bolt includes a seam from where the ends of two lengths were joined. This seam is about one-fourth of the way down the length of one side of the bolt, and was hand-stitched. There is some very light dirt and discoloration around this seam, which should also fade and wash over time. This bolt is in as found, unwashed condition but it can machine washed or dry cleaned. Dry cleaning will simply keep it flat and not give it that classic, crinkly washed linen look. Machine washing this fabric will soften it over time and give it that crinkly linen look! ~*~ If you choose to machine wash, simply wash with Oxyclean and your regular detergent. I like to add fabric softener, for a softer hand. These are safe to tumble dry! ~*~ There may be a pale mark or two on your bolt. Each has some little flaw here or there, but generally in wonderful condition. Ideal for day to day use! If you are purchasing to use as a STAIR RUNNER, here are the INSTRUCTIONS: These textiles are built to withstand generations of use ~ To measure your stairs, simply lay a piece of string and follow the entire area as the runner will lay, then simply measure the string! ~*~* ~*~ I have sold many many of these rolls as stair runners and people have raved about them for a very long time. Fitting is usually done with a thin felt underlay and then either tacked, nailed or stapled to the stairs or stair rods can be used. This roll would also be wonderful cut into smaller rugs, table runners, stair runners or hallway carpeting OR would make a very rustic table runner~ it has a wonderful unique look, very special indeed~*~ ~*~!!! It would give so much warmth and flair to any room! ~*~ ( I have attached a couple of photographs of my runners in use~ so beautiful, so unique ~ a lovely piece of textile history; brought back to add beauty to our lives today~*~ ) These heavy textiles are far better to either dry clean or spot clean as needed.
