Description: Antique Hawkes ABCG Flutes Whiskey Jug 9.25” Quart Handle No Stopper #1122 Marked. Made in USA 1900-1905. Approx. 9 1/4” Tall x 4” Wide Handle to Spout x 2 1/4” Wide at Base x 3/4” Wide at Top, 1 lb 9.3 oz. Faceted Heptagon Body. Faceted Handle with Dash Cut Design. Marked on Bottom with Trefoil Ring Enclosing a Fleur-de-lis and Two Hawks. In 1880, Thomas G. Hawkes, a native of Ireland opened Hawkes Rich Cut Glass Works on Market Street in Corning, New York. He died unexpectedly in 1913, and leadership of the company transferred to his son, Samuel. T.G. Hawkes & Co. prospered until the Great Depression, when the already dwindling demand for cut glass further dropped. Samuel Hawkes retired around 1940, and died in 1959. Excellent used antique condition. No Stopper. No chips, cracks, or repairs. Very very slight nick inside spout area. Some very light surface scratches on the bottom. Normal wear from use and age.
