They suggested it was a different Asian country, which makes sense because the previous owner was Malaysian. So i think it's a bowl from Malaysia, maybe Korea. The weight of this piece is very light, much lighter than you would think. Also a lot thinner than most bowls. The Box is custom made for this piece, and the lock mechanism is made of bone. There is porosity in the surface as well, leading me to believe this was handmade decades and probably centuries ago.
