Description: This exquisite medal or pendant celebrates the French heroine Joan of Arc. It bears the date 1909, the year when Joan was beatified. The medal measures approximately 13/16” (2cms) across and weighs 3.6 grams. The raised and finely sculpted image of Joan of Arc shows her in armour with her sword clasped to her breast. She wears a crown of laurel leaves and has a halo. The background is strewn with tiny fleur de lis. Around the edge is the wording ‘ Bienheureuse Jeanne D’Arc ) – Blessed Joan of Arc. Joan was beatified in 1909 and canonised in 1920 . At lower left is the signature ‘H Tschudin’ - maybe the father of the more famous Raymond. On the back is the standard of Joan of Arc intertwined with a spray of lilies. At the top are her dates 1409-1431. Around the edge are the places and significant dates of Joan’s history.
