ANTIQUE FAIRY LAMP/METAL FRAME WITH BAIL/CRANBERRY GLASS/CLARKE PORCELAIN HOLDER

You are viewing a very, very scarce to rare fairy lamp, for all the 30 plus years that I have collected, I have only seen one other like this one, but the lamp was not complete. This fairy lamp has a metal frame, top, and handle that has an ormolu or gilt type finish. The main frame is footed with four feet, and an ornate top and handle. Around the center of the framework you will see what looks like to me to be gargoyles or some mythical creature. There is a cylindrical cranberry glass liner or sleeve that fits inside of the metal framework, and at the bottom is a vented piece that has a “Clarke Pyramid Night Light” porcelain candle holder. Measures approximately 6 ½ tall to top of the frame, 11” to top of the handle, and 3 5/8” in diameter across the top opening. The fairy lamp is in excellent antique condition, and any wear is commensurate with age and use. The ornate top has lost most of the gilt coating, which has flaked off from age and the heat of a burning candle, but you can still see traces. The cranberry liner on one end has a couple of flakes on the inner rim at the edge, which I believe was made in the process of polishing each end. The porcelain Clarke candle holder is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. This wonderful, unusual and unique fairy lamp would make a nice addition to your collection.
