The Helena Wolfsohn porcelain decoration studio began operation in 1843, succeeding her father, who had founded L. Meyer & Sohne. Her workshop became one of the most prolific decorating studios in Dresden. Wolfsohn was not a porcelain manufacturer, but would buy blank pieces from the Meissen studio and apply decoration in her studio. Wolfsohn used the D with crown above mark from 1843-1878, The later use of the appropriated Augustus Rex (AR) mark started in 1879 a year after Helena's daughter Emilie Wolfsohn took over the studio. Use of the "AR" mark found the studio in a long drawn out law suit by the Meissen company - who used the "AR" in the early 18th century. The Wolfsohn studio was forced to stop using the Augustus Rex mark in 1893.
