These small daggers are often called "ladies daggers" since they were favored by ladies of the evening for protection . The etched blade is marked J.SMITH and below that name are the letters ?OWELL the first Letter is hidden by an area of rust.. Further research may determine the identity of the etched names on the blade.The handle on the side of the etched blade shows a dent which is pictured.There are areas of old rust on the blade.The handle and guard are tight without movt.The sheath shows wear and ripples Approximate measurements Overall length 9 5/8" Blade length 5 1/2" Handle length 4".
