Description: Antique Chess set, table and two armchairs from the 18th century. What precision of workmanship, oak furniture hand-assembled without the use of screws or nails, beautifully finished. Armchairs are covered with thick, 4mm natural leather and the table top has a pressed leather chessboard. All pawns and figures are hand-carved, black in ebony, and white in oak. The set has a rich history, of which I only know part. Hand-made +/- 300 years ago in Germany, somehow emigrated to Australia where I bought it 40 years ago at the Antiques auction in Sydney. The set is valued at £6,000, we are selling it because we are in a hurry to leave for less than half of this price. Our price is subject to minor negotiations.
