Description: Very nice Gentleman's cabinet that has been in the family for well over a century. At some point in the 1930's the Sargent combination lock safe was added. The safe operates smoothly and yes, we have the combination. A hidden tilt up mirror is clear and you could shave with it today. It was originally the property of Captain Royal Delp's father well before 1900. Captain Delp had it in long term storage during WW2. Since then it's been in his possession followed by his Daughter.....Back to the item at hand:Not perfect but in very presentable condition. There is a missing piece of veneer on the front left leg as shown in the detail pic. The casters were added at an unknown date but are needed to move the 250-300+ pounds. There are some chips on the original round feet that can be seen if down low. The multiple drawers feature dividers and pull out smoothly. There is a heavy glass top cut to the shape of the cabinet. At some point the Captain very neatly wrote the number/location inside each drawer in ink. It comes with one original key and one modified that works with patience. I can provide full details of the unit and family ownership including a picture of the Captain's portrait. If you have any questions please ask. I will not provide a shipping. I strongly suggest a recognized National company like Bekins or Allied. They have the expertise to properly crate, handle and insure such a heavy itemThis is a very unique item and the vintage Sargent Greenleaf safe makes it one of a kind. The safe blends into the design as though it were part of the original construction. Thanks for looking.
