Description: This auction is for a set of six double-handled cream soup cups and saucers, by Societe Alluaud Limoges. This set was imported by the Paris/New York Limoges importer George Borgfeldt, whose Coronet company was known for importing Limoges porcelain with the highest quality decoration. This set features delicate pink flowers highlighted with yellow centers amid green foliage (I think the flowers are old roses), on a white ground. The porcelain is embossed with bows on both cups and saucers. The saucers are gently scalloped with no trim, and the cup’s handles are gold trimmed. Measurements: The cups are approximately 2¼” high, approximately 5½” wide from handle to handle, and approximately 3 5/8” in diameter across the rim. The saucers are approximately 5¾” in diameter. Marks: There are a number of marks, and all are shown in the photos. The words Société Alluaud and the red rooster, and the “AD” marks are present, as well as the words “Limoges France”, and some of the pieces also show the Coronet mark which dates from 1906-1920. Condition: This set is in excellent antique condition. One of the cups has a hairline crack (pictured). Otherwise, each piece is without cracks, repairs, or chips. I can find no utensil marks, leading me to believe that this set was never used. The paint and gilding are in fine antique condition.
