Description: This amazing advertising and recipe book is a wonderful snapshot in time from the early 1900's! It is in fabulous condition with no rips, tears, discoloration and only slight wear. Here are more details:Complete antique White Start Tuna Fish "The ROMANCE OF TUNA and 19 Proven Recipes" Book.The book measures approximately 5 1/2" long by 8 1/2" tall. The advertising/recipe book is undated, but through research it was found to be printed around 1910-1922. In 1922, White Star Tuna merged with other tuna fish companies and changed names to become Van Camp Sea Food Company, Inc. (now Chicken of the Sea). This advertising/recipe book says on page two, "21 Years ago tuna was an unknown food on American tables. Then White Star Tuna brought America the thrill of a new variety of delicious, full-flavored dishes!". So, White Star Tuna company had to be founded at least in 1901 (the 21 years earlier than this book could have been printed under the White Star Tuna Fish name), and most likely was founded a little earlier than that. Therefore, 21 years later from those dates, and based on the dress/style of the advertising, indicates this book was printed somewhere around 1910-1922 at the latest before the company merged and the name changed. The book has 16 pages of amazing stories, recipes, and incredible art work, most especially the middle fold-out page depicting the many White Star Tuna Fish advertisements the company used.Stored in a cabinet for a century, the book has bright and vivid colors and is in excellent condition with only small fold lines on the back pages and slight discoloration at the top of the book.
