Description: Here we have a superb antique bentwood grain measure. This is marked with "Quart" as well as "VR" "Crown" & "178". In 1826 the Imperial Standard was introduced to and a verification mark signifies that the measure has been inspected by an official inspector and found to be of the correct capacity. From around 1879 a uniform style was adopted consisting of a crown, the monarch’s initials and a number which denotes the location. So this would date from 1879-1901 as that's when Queen Victoria's reign ended. This has a beautifully aged patina, the bentwood is rustic with nails holding the piece together. It has so much character and would make a lovely addition to a country home. It measures just over 4.5 inches tall by 5.25 inches by 5 inches. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.
